So you have chosen me as your celebrant, what’s next?

  • Contact me with your ideas - what you're planning including the date, time,  and venue and any questions you have.

  • I will reply as soon as I can.  If I am available for your date and venue, I will include my fee scale based on your details and answer any questions.

  • If we are both happy you’ll then we’ll book a time to meet (physical location or online) to discuss detail

Planning

Preferably 2 to 3 months from the wedding date (though oftentimes closer) we meet, as pre-arranged, to discuss your plans, including:

  • Length and feel of the ceremony

  • Ceremony programme

  • Other participants in the ceremony such as those who will sing / play / share a reading or blessing etc

  • Your choice of songs or music, if wanted

  • Any ideas you have for doing something a bit different

I will ask you some questions to:

  • Make sure the logistics of the ceremony are being taken care of

  • Learn more about you, your beliefs, and your stories

  • Check that you understand the process of getting the marriage license required, which is valid for three months from your application                     https://marriages.services.govt.nz/

My fee

I charge a minimum of $350 (depends on how much travel is required and how much of my time you will require. I require a deposit of either $150 or half the agreed fee, which I  reserve the right not to refund if the wedding as planned on the day agreed to does not go ahead.

For more information about my costs, or my availability, feel free to get in touch. Whether you are eloping, choosing a basic personalised ceremony or going for all the bells and whistles, I can help you.

Draft ceremony

A first draft of your wedding ceremony will be emailed to you early in the planning stages.  Once you've read through it, if you have any changes or suggestions, we will edit the plan accordingly. There may be minor changes even on the big day, but it’s best to be well planned, to reduce potential anxieties!

I can also send readings, such as poetry, for you to choose if you haven't got one already. Music, especially for the signing is recommended. This can be live music or you can send me a playlist if have one ready.

Your wedding day

You can expect me to

  • Arrive at the venue at least half an hour before your ceremony.

  • Speak to anyone involved in the ceremony itself, and make final checks.

  • Conduct the ceremony according to the law and the role agreed to with you.

  • Complete the legal paperwork, then leave you to celebrate with your guests (unless you've invited me to stay).

The rehearsal

Final week or so: You may choose to run through a rehearsal  – you, your bridal party and me.

During the rehearsal I will

  • Check that the marriage licence has arrived. I prefer it to be emailed directly to me when you order it so that it is printed and ready.

  • Run through the music for the ceremony, if relevant

  • Discuss who stands where

  • Discuss signing of the marriage certificate

  • Check any last-minute details
